Rapid Salmonella Contamination Test Kit for Food

Detail

Salmonella is a bacterium that causes Salmonellosis or gastrointestinal infection. Patients may experience symptoms like diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, and abdominal cramps, which can resolve on their own in healthy individuals. However, severe symptoms may occur in immunocompromised individuals, the elderly, or children when consuming food contaminated with Salmonella. Moreover, Salmonella strains often develop antibiotic resistance, leading to potentially fatal conditions. Traditional bacterial culture methods for Salmonella detection take around 3-4 days and require skilled personnel for interpretation, providing limited information on the presence or absence of the pathogen. To address this, researchers have developed a rapid screening kit for Salmonella contamination in food using the SE-W109 phage, which specifically targets Salmonella using immunochromatography techniques.
