Mahidol University and Saudi-Thai Council collaborate to propel MARAVAS, a Thai medical innovation, into international health markets, aligning with Saudi Vision 2030
On 8 January 2026, the Institute of Technology and Innovation Management (INT), Mahidol University, participated in a strategic discussion with the Saudi–Thai Business Council to advance collaboration in the health economy and promote MARAVAS—Mahidol Advance Research and Innovation in Vascular Surgery and Transplantation—toward international markets, in alignment with Saudi Vision 2030.
The meeting was led by Prof. Piyamitr Sritara, M.D., President of Mahidol University, together with the University’s executive team and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Viriya Taecharungroj Techarungroj, Director of INT, alongside representatives from Thailand’s Ministry of Commerce, the innovator of MARAVAS, and H.E. Mr. Osama Kokandy, Chairman of the Saudi–Thai Business Council.
The discussion focused on positioning MARAVAS as a model of integrated excellence in vascular surgery and organ transplantation, meeting international healthcare standards. This initiative highlights the strength of Thai medical innovation and serves as a platform for policy-level collaboration among academia, government, and the private sector in both countries, driving the global health economy forward.
As the University’s technology transfer arm, INT plays a key role in translating MARAVAS into real-world impact by supporting trademark registration, technology transfer to the private sector, and contract management, ensuring sustainable growth and long-term value for Thai medical innovation on the global stage.
